Random Post 2: My Favorite Places on Campus

I absolutely LOVE spending time on campus, and as my junior year comes to a close, I like reflecting on my favorite places on campus.

  1. The Thornton Courtyard

    1. The Thornton School of Music Courtyard is a place I love to go to get some quiet space on campus and get some work done if I have time between classes. It is peaceful and quiet, with lots of birds and squirrels running around, with the occasional cellist or guitar player practicing quietly for some study ambiance. It is a place I recommend if you need some alone time outdoors without much commotion (most of the time).

  2. Doheny Stacks

    1. The Stacks are my favorite place on campus to get work done. While I love Mudd Hall of Philosophy, the big room in Doheny, or Leavey, the Doheny Stacks are the best place to get a ton of hours of work done because there are absolutely no distractions and you can’t even tell what time it is. I think I could be in that place for days on end without anyone finding me, because there are so many floors that you can literally get lost down there (and I have). It’s basically so depressing down there that you HAVE to work.

  3. Founders Park

    1. I love Founders Park (and Alumni Park across Trousdale) because it is mostly peaceful and quiet, and it is a great place to watch the squirrels run around. Many scenes in movies / TV shows have also been shot near here or at Bovard, like How to Get Away with Murder or Beautiful Boy. Overall, it is a place I love to spend some time sitting down at the benches while drinking a coffee from Dulce or the Coffee Bean.

  4. VPD Building and Patio

    1.  VPD is such a beautiful building, but the patios on the third floor make me feel like I am on vacation. When it is sunny and warm outside, I recommend taking the time up there to get some sun and do some work.

  5. The village lawn

    1. I often forget that the village lawn exists, but whenever I walk by, it is nice to spend a couple minutes sitting there on the grass and soaking up some sun.

  6. Cinema School

    1. The School of Cinematic Arts is a very beautiful spot on campus as well, and I enjoy stopping by there on a campus walk just to grab a coffee from the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf and sit on one of the patios upstairs or walking around to see the different lots and architectures of the school.

  7. Tennis courts

    1. One of my favorite underrated spots on campus is the tennis courts. I loved playing tennis in high school, but it is hard to find time to play tennis in college with friends. It is really nice to have access to the tennis courts because I can just pick up my racket and a couple balls and spend a couple hours playing tennis with a friend or two (for fun or a whole match).

If you are reading this and have a favorite underrated place to spend time on campus, let me know in the comments!!

  1. This list is so valid, I've been trying to discover more spots to chill or do work on campus and I will definitely check some of them out! I will say, Doheny Stacks is another level, it's way too depressing for me to be there haha.
